Job Description
Prestigious asset management house seeks a risk specialist with proven strategic planning and business/enterprise risk expertise to implement new risk initiatives across the retail investments space. Previous experience will be gained from the Wealth Management or Retail Funds arena.
Strong knowledge of both internal and external risk issues within an asset management context and previous experience of implementing, promoting and maintaining a control culture is essential. This will be complemented by a commercial approach and the ability to understand appetite for risk, ensuring that this is managed within an effective risk framework. This is a standalone role and is highly visible throughout the organisation. The proven ability to operate at senior management level is pre-requisite and applicants must demonstrate the ability to influence and manage relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
Situated within the business itself, the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the firm's central risk unit and a key purpose of the role is to manage the balance between mitigation of risk and development of business/revenue generation. The role's focus is extremely broad and other key stakeholders will be within the business operations team, sales, legal, compliance, audit, product management and other areas within the retail investments and pensions businesses.
Specific responsibilities will include embedding a risk culture across the business, working closely with colleagues to ensure synergy and cohesion of approach across the piece and to comply with all relevant legislation and regulation. The role will also involve coordinating business continuity planning, overseeing the management of the firm's TCF function, and undertaking additional regulatory, legislative and other risk related projects as appropriate.
