Job Description
Based on the trading floor you will take full ownership of either the Rates, Credit, FX, Equity or Commodity exotics trading desk (depending on your product background as an individual will be moved on to another desk internally). The role will be far more technical than control roles in larger IB's given its broader risk remit and that you will be in close contact with head traders on issues and / or strategies relating to the market area that you cover. This is a major reason why the IB will ask that you take the CFA qualification (fully funded by the IB), but furthermore as the IB views the product control function as a training ground for other areas of the business, most notably Valuations, Risk and Front Office. It is not uncommon to see ex-controller in trading roles at the IB.
You should currently be in a senior associate / junior AVP product control role in an IB and possess top class academics. It is not a necessity to be a qualified accountant as if anything a part qualified CFA candidate would be preferred. It is imperative that you have the right personality and character to work in the front office and should heavy exposure to the desk shouldn't be uncommon in your current role.
The client is paying a salary that will be seen as being attractive to candidates at larger IB's, especially as their bonus structure is particularly attractive.
