Risk & Control UK Regional Lead
Main Function
Based in London, this crucial role is for a Risk and Control leader with PM/BA skills in FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities) Technology, reporting directly to the head of FICC Technology Risk and Control (R&C). The role is accountable for driving R&C improvement activities through new projects and improvement initiatives in existing operational control functions. The candidate will need to manage both Control and Project Management resource to provide structure, transparency and strategy to take the organization forward. As such the resource will be accountable for structuring, prioritizing and implementing cross-stream projects, tasks and change initiatives, as well as the tracking of centrally driven projects within the R&C space. Accountable for stakeholder management and task, issue, risk management and reporting - all within a dynamic and rapidly evolving organization. The candidate is expected to be a key part and driver of the R&C change programme within the organization.
Main Duties
- Accountable for shaping and maintaining the strategic roadmap for the R&C space
- Identify transformational activities for the organization, and work directly with the R&C lead on delivering those activities across the organization
- Drive through process and change improvements to refine delivery and increase efficiency
- Act as SME for R&C projects or programmes
- Accountable for the successful and transparent delivery of projects, tasks and initiatives. Through management of project management resource:
- Maintain and evolve a holistic view of work drivers from outside the department, highlighting crunch points, issues and risks for the teams to management
- Engage with the management team and their staff, reporting IT progress against critical projects, tasks and deliveries
- Challenge how we work, and how 'central' teams drive work within our space - ensure it is structured and thought through before it arrives with our teams
- Represent the organization centrally by being member of and point of contact for different forums, initiatives and projects
- Timely, accurate status reporting of the highest content and presentational quality to R&C Lead and senior (MD level) business stakeholders
- Represent reporting to the senior management team and central teams
- Ensure reporting across the space is consistent, accurate, comprehensive and appropriate
- Ensure adherence to current standards and practices but also look to improve them to increase overall maturity of governance structure and process within the space
Requirements
• Experience of IB technology platforms and the business and technology control environment
• Negotiation and influencing - ability to listen, and to effectively negotiate with multiple parties with conflicting interests to reach a mutually satisfactory outcome
• Presentation / documentation - present / document processes, reports and benefits to the highest standards (suitable for consumption by Front Office MDs)
• Versatility - role is multidimensional and is likely to require flexible / versatile set of skills, which will need to adapt to match changing environment
• Programme Management - ability to identify and structure suitable work breakdown plans
• Experience of managing a broad range of IT projects
• Ability to deal with robust personalities
• Highly structured and organised, with sound project tracking and proactive issue identification skills
• Proficient in use of MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, SharePoint - able to produce high quality reports / documentation
• Awareness of formal project management methodologies such as Prince 2 / experience with management of Agile methods
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well under pressure and adapt well to changes
• Disciplined analysis and problem solving skills
• Must have an extremely high attention to detail
• Strong diplomacy to ensure buy in to defined processes and workflows
