Our client, a dynamic and highly respected player within the UK financial services sector, seeks a Head of Market and Liquidity Risk, reporting to the Director, Prudential and Financial Risk and based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Market and Liquidity Risk function, ensuring that key sources of risk within the balance sheet and across the business are identified and managed within the Board's risk appetite and in line with regulatory expectations; and that future funding risks are anticipated and appropriate strategies are put into place.
If appointed you will have oversight of the implementation of the risk framework and policies, ensuring proper controls are in place and that adherence is effectively monitored; and of the Basel-compliant capital management system for the wholesale portfolio, including stress testing and RWA reporting. In addition, you will monitor and assess key liquidity risks, providing advice to Treasury on appropriate hedging strategies and risk transfer techniques and overseeing controls and governance.
You must be able to bring stature and credibility to the function, together with extensive experience across the various risk classes in addition to market and liquidity risk. You will also need the gravitas and confidence to challenge established thinking - bringing new ideas and thought leadership - as well as the energy and commitment to see new initiatives through to implementation.
Your ability to work in partnership with the business' leadership will be measured by your success in developing and implementing the Market and Liquidity Risk strategy, ensuring that key deliverables are met, providing risk analysis to the ALM and Risk committees and supporting executive decision-making.
With a small but dedicated specialist group of risk professionals, you will need to provide evidence of the requisite leadership and communication skills necessary to lead, motivate, manage and develop the Market and Liquidity Risk team, delivering strong employee engagement and a high-performance culture.
You should ideally be based within daily commuting distance of Edinburgh, although a weekly commute could be considered for the right candidate.
This is a permanent position however the client is also seeking a suitable interim candidate to take on the role whilst the search is under way.
A competitive remuneration package is offered together with exceptional career opportunities.
